What is Alpha?
The Alpha course consists of a series of short talks addressing key issues relating to the Christian faith. Each evening there is a light meal together at the beginning of the session, providing everyone with a chance to get to know each other. This is followed by a videoed talk, after which we discuss the topic of the evening, ask questions and express opinions.
Alpha is a place to listen, learn, discuss and discover. It is a place to ask anything. No question is too simple or too hostile. Alpha is cringe-free, relaxed, informal and fun!
One previous Alpha guest expressed it like this: At Alpha you can ask anything you like and nobody laughs. It is non-threatening and you can be sure that your views will be respected.
Alpha is an opportunity for anyone to explore the Christian faith in a relaxed setting. The course is open to everyone who would like to attend.
Who is it for?
People come along for a wide variety of reasons some want to investigate whether God exists; others are concerned about what happens after death. Some people have particular questions that they would like to discuss; others want to understand other people's beliefs or would like to explore the meaning of life.
Some who come to Alpha have never been to church, others may be church-goers but feel they have never really understood the basics of the Christian faith.
