Green Social Prescribing

Green Social Prescribing offers additional one-to-one, tailored support for adults (aged 18 and over) who would like to connect with nature to improve their wellbeing. This 'nature connection' may be through accessing green (outdoor) spaces, nature-based groups or volunteering. It's for people who may be struggling to do this without support, including if you feel isolated, low or anxious.

Through meeting with our Green Social Prescriber, Briony, you be able to engage in short-term one-to-one support at a pace that suits you. These sessions will:

  • give us the chance to get to know one another; we'll explore your interests, needs, goals and challenges in enjoying green spaces.
  • take place in a safe and supportive environment, and can include walks and talks either at St Nicks nature reserve, other green spaces in York or in community services you are already familiar with.

You will have the opportunity attend activities or groups of your interest alongside Briony, who will support you to build your confidence to attend independently in the future.

"St Nicks is an amazing place to be.

We get to spend time learning in nature and not be judged in any way.

Amazing, helpful staff who are understanding and genuinely caring."
