Himalayan balsam removal: River Foss - Sessions' Nature Reserve, New Earswick
Wednesday 11th June, 10am-12:30pm
Join us at Sessions' Nature Reserve and help to improve the riverbanks by pulling out invasive plant, Himalayan balsam. Balsam can completely dominate an area, creating a monoculture which diminishes our all important biodiversity. By removing balsam, we are minimising it's spread across our watercourses and making room for native wildflowers and plants which, in turn, support other species like bees, butterflies and water voles.
This session will take place at Sessions' Nature Reserve in New Earswick. Meet on Haxby Road, by the 'Welcome to New Earswick' sign below the Link Road (https://what3words.com/tracks.wizard.fuels). There are no facilities on site, but New Earswick Folk Hall is a 10 minute walk away where there is a small café, we can use facilities. The session is suitable for groups of 5-20 people. If your group is bigger than this, please get in touch and we will see what we can do.
