Scything at the horse field

Thursday 6th August 9.30pm-15.30pm

Help us to manage the grassland in the patch of land that has been fenced off within the parish council owned land where the horses live. Our aim is to improve the value of the site for the benefit of both people and wildlife, by removing nutrients from the grassland which will support more wildflowers. The activity will involve scything the grass and then raking off the cuttings to stop extra nutrients getting back into the soil.

The nearest facilities are at the York Sports Club on Shipton Road (about a 15min walk). The session is suitable for groups of 5-12 people. If your group is bigger than this, please get in touch and we will see what we can do.

Book this session for your team by clicking belowA member of staff will then be in touch to confirm your booking and discuss details. For more information, contact Nicola Ward by emailing nicola@stnicks.org.uk.
